I am the owner and designer for Driftwood Beadery. Loving the beach began as a kid when my parents would take us there often, whether it was only for the day or longer weekend trips. Loved being buried in the sand and building sandcastles with my family. When I became a parent, I also took my children to the coast to enjoy the smells of the campfires, wade in the cold waters of the ocean, observe the marine life in the tide pools, and walk the beaches.
For the past 15 years, my husband and I have loved going camping at the coast, listening to the waves, walking on the beach while watching our two dogs, Mojo and Mocha Bean chase each other, and beachcomb and although Mojo is now gone but still forever in our hearts, Mocha Bean still loves to run and chase her ball.
Love the beach and looking for that perfect piece of driftwood! I can be seen carrying a bag to put my cool pieces of driftwood and pretty rocks and any other unique finds I come across while walking on the beach. So about ten years ago I had an idea to use these driftwood pieces in a hanger using bells and beautiful sparkling beads, even finding other unique pieces at garage and estate sales.
Each of my hangers are unique and different. All hangers are weather resistant and can be hung outside, but the ideal location would be somewhere light and sunny so the beads can show their real sparkle. I do build a hanger using a ceramic hummingbird that would be better under cover or even in a sun-filled window. These little hummers are customer favorites. My hangers are each made with love into beautiful pieces of art. Building these is how I relax, unwind, and then create.
We also now have ten grandchildren and since we are retired, we are hoping to be able to see them more, although they are older as well and are on their own agendas. Everyone is busy.
